Mark Lorimer
Dancer

Since graduating from The Place, London, in 1991, Mark has worked as a dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director, teacher, researcher, pedagogical advisor… in many different contexts. His main collaborations as a dancer have been with Rosas/Anne-Teresa De Keersmaeker (1994-2023), ZOO/Thomas Hauert (1997-2005) and Alix Eynaudi (2012-present). Alongside he has worked on many projects with (among others) -Deborah Hay, UPSBD - Saldana and Drillet, Alain Buffard, Marten Spangberg, Kris Verdonck, Jonathan Burrows, Boris Charmatz and Liz Santoro/Pierre Godard.
As a choreographer Mark made the piece “Canon and on and on…” a commission for 9 Geneva-based dancers for the ADC and the festival La Bâtie in September 2021.
He has made two other full-length works "To Intimate" with cellist Thomas Luks and fellow Rosas mainstay Cynthia Loemij, and "Dancesmith - Camel, Weasel, Whale" again with Cynthia plus graphic artist and dancer Clinton Stringer.
In 2016 he made a piece for Bodhi Project SEAD, Salzburg - “Darwin’s Gypsy Dance”. He has also made works with students of the Laban Centre, London, and a duet with Chrysa Parkinson - "Nylon Solution".
Interest and invitations to teach dance are also a broad spectrum - he regularly teaches composition in response to a musical score at La Manufacture, Lausanne, was a member of the collective DanceWeb leadership at Impulstanz in Vienna in 2015 and currently holds the position of Pedagogical Advisor at the Cndc, Angers, as well as occasional teaching at PARTS, Brussels, PNSD, Cannes, DNSPA, Copenhagen and CDCN, Toulouse.
