Sylvain Devaux

Convinced that diversity is the keystone for a thriving, meaningful and exciting artistic journey, he regularly takes part in a large variety of projects. He collaborates with different Ensembles such as the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Ictus, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, or the Lucern Alumni Ensemble.

Always seeking new artistic horizons, he often work closely with composers, dancers, comedians or visual artists, and he engages in the creation of original staged shows such as Les Toires du monde, written for the musicians of the Ensemble Furians. His performative experience in 20th century and contemporary music together with his dedication for improvised musics lead him to be looking for novel forms and experiences of concerts.

He is the oboe player of the ensemble l’Itinéraire since 2016, and a member of the company Miroirs étendus, which devotes itself to new operatic pieces as well as take another look at the Opera’s repertoire from a firmly contemporary perspective.
After graduating at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) in oboe and free improvisation, he completed his Master degree within the new European joint master program CoPeCo, partnership between the conservatoires of Tallinn, Stockholm, Lyon and Hamburg, during which he studied composition and musical programming.
